Located in the Isalo Massif, Isalo National Park has a stunning sandstone landscape. Weathered over time, it boasts jagged ridges and well-concealed canyons where small streams flow throughout the year promoting havens for lemurs and other flora and fauna.
Numerous hiking trails are found throughout the Park from gentle to challenging. Undertaking a hike through the park and stopping for a picnic lunch and dip in a cool pool, or by a waterfall surrounded by lemurs, is one of the delights of Isalo.
The local Bara people have numerous sacred burial grounds within the park marked by mounds of stones placed in crevices in the rock faces. These can often be seen from the hiking trails.
