As is the case throughout the world, Madagascar has had to take severe measures to limit the spread of Covid-19. This has led to further hardship for so many of the nation's people. For those in the travel and tourism sector, work has been halted for many months as borders have been closed, and there has been no income.

As we near the end of the year the better news is that Madagascar has opened Nosy Be (island) to tourists. Visitors may not leave the island and must fly in directly from overseas. Ethiopian Airlines has been operating a service from Addis Ababa to accommodate visitors. This is a small, but very welcome start.

Recovery for the island nation will be slow and long, so when international travel resumes Madagascar will be looking forward to the tourism sector to help rebuild the nation.

We encourage you to have Madagascar on your future travel list and help Madagascar recover.
